Please take note of the following detailed rules and regulations regarding carry-on and check-in baggage when traveling on ZIPAIR.
Baggage Restrictions
Certain items are strictly prohibited or restricted as baggage. Please refer to the section on Baggage Restrictions for details.
Limits on Carry-on Baggage Size, Weight, and Quantity
Up to two pieces of carry-on baggage may be brought on board free of charge, provided each piece meets the specified size requirements (1st piece: 55 cm x 40 cm x 25 cm, 2nd piece: 35 cm x 45 cm x 25 cm). The total weight of all carry-on baggage must not exceed 7 kg. If you are unable to weigh your baggage in advance, please use the baggage scales provided at each airport (except some airports).
Additional charges for exceeding the carry-on limits
If you exceed the carry-on baggage allowance, you may carry on board up to a total of 15 kg (the allowed weight + 8 kg) with an additional charge to be paid at least 24 hours prior to departure. If the size or number of pieces exceeds the limit, or if the weight exceeds 15 kg, the baggage must be checked in.
*Large carry-on baggage (such as musical instruments) that cannot fit in an overhead luggage rack or under the seat in front of you are not allowed as carry-on baggage.

- Additional fees for carry-on baggage must be paid up to 24 hours prior to departure.
- If you pay these charges through the Contact Center, an administration fee of approximately 1,000 yen will apply.
- Payment cannot be made less than 24 hours prior to departure or at the airport counter on the day of departure.

Passengers must check baggage at least one hour prior to departure at an automatic baggage check-in machine or at the check-in counter. Please note that baggage cannot be checked in after the cut-off time. (Please note that baggage services vary depending on the airport facility.)

Fees apply starting from the first piece of checked baggage.
Baggage in excess of 30 kg per piece or dimensions over 203 cm (sum of length, width, and height) cannot be checked in, except for certain types of sports equipment.
The maximum weight of check-in baggage is 30 kg per piece. Any baggage that exceeds the weight limit will not be accepted as checked baggage.
Each passenger may check in a maximum of 5 pieces of baggage, but will be charged for each piece.

Free Check-in baggage
The following baggage may be checked in free-of-charge
Baby strollers
- If the stroller is not the passenger's own stroller, it will be checked at a fee.
- Please note that bags are not provided for strollers.
- Upon departure, you may bring your own stroller up to the boarding gate but you will need to return it to the baggage claim area upon arrival.
Child car seat
- If the child car seat is not the passenger's own child seat, it will need to be checked- in for a fee.
- Car seats are not permitted for use onboard the aircraft.
One wheelchair
- A second or subsequent wheelchair needs to be checked in for a fee.
Other mobility aids
Items Not Allowed as Checked Baggage
The following items cannot be checked as baggage. ZIPAIR is not responsible for any damage, loss, or inconvenience resulting from checking in prohibited items:
- Items exceeding 203 cm in total dimensions (length, width, height)
- Items over 30 kilograms in weight
- Valuables (currency, jewelry, precious metals, etc.)
- Securities, stock certificates or other important documents
- Important documents (securities, stock certificates, passports, travel documents)
- Fragile items (e.g., electronic devices such as laptops)
- Perishable items (e.g., fresh food)
- Items that could contaminate or affect other passengers' baggage (e.g., items with strong odors)
- Product samples
- Items that are not properly packed
- Packing materials are not provided at the airport. We are not responsible for damage or partial loss due to inadequate packing.
- For fragile items, including musical instruments, sports equipment (such as golf clubs, surfboards, bicycles, and ski gear), ceramics, glassware, and bottles of alcohol, please ensure that they are properly protected and secured for air transport.
- Only credit cards, debit cards, and Union Pay QR codes are accepted for payment at the airport counter.
Restrictions on the type, weight, and number of pieces of sports equipment
Each passenger may check in up to a total of 5 pieces of checked baggage, including sports equipment and regular checked baggage. Each piece of sports equipment cannot exceed 32 kg.

- Example 1:If the length is 254cm or less and the height is 91cm or less, sports equipment with a width of 76cm or less can be checked in.

ZIPAIR does not accept animals as checked or carry-on baggage.
However, assistance dogs (guide, service, and hearing dogs) are allowed in the cabin free of charge. Please inform us at the time of reservation.For entry requirements, please consult the consulate of the destination country or the animal quarantine office in the departure country.On routes to/from the U.S. and Canada, service dogs beyond assistance dogs for the physically challenged (e.g., psychiatric service dogs) may be allowed in the cabin, provided they meet requirements. Emotional support dogs are not permitted.
For passengers who wish to travel with an assistance dog, document submission is required. Please contact our Contact Center at least 48 hours prior to departure with the required documents. For more details, please refer to "Customers with Assistance Dogs for the Physically Challenged" on the “Customers who Need Assistance” page.
New entry requirements for bringing dogs into the United States effective from August 1, 2024. Please check the CDC website (English only).
If you have a connecting flight, you are required to enter the country at the transfer airport and collect your baggage unless you are on an eligible route.
For information on connecting itineraries, please refer to the Connecting Flights page.Passengers connecting to ZIPAIR from another airline must claim their baggage and re-check it at the ZIPAIR counter. ZIPAIR is unable to assist with locating luggage that is not recorded in our system.

Damaged baggage on arrival
Upon arrival, if you discover any damage to your baggage, please inform a staff member immediately.
Staff shall determine if the damage is eligible for compensation.ZIPAIR is not responsible for damage that is unavoidable during transportation.
Minor damage that does not affect the contents of the bag,
as well as damage to the contents themselves, is not covered.
